Reality Check by Nutriessential

Some people experiencing gastrointestinal issues find it hard to manage their everyday diet. In Reddit discussions, people mention that they follow a restrictive diet that avoids any food that may possibly trigger a reaction. Some say that they get anxious around food because an ingredient that they can’t immediately see may trigger their digestive issues.

Some Reddit users mention that when they follow a restrictive diet, going out with friends and family to restaurants or attending social gatherings is too much for them. Finding food that’s suitable for them to eat in social settings can be challenging. Some point out at that it makes them reluctant to attend such social events.

Some express concerns that they don’t get enough nutrition to support health with digestive difficulties. Some people say that their friends point out that they are becoming thinner and thinner.

Planning and preparing meals for a restrictive diet takes extra time and effort, which makes it challenging for people leading busy lives. They look for alternatives to include a nutritious diet.

Evidence Check by Nutriessential

We investigated peer-reviewed research on the ingredients in UltraGI Replenish:

A 2025 human trial was conducted on 37 adults with overweight or obesity. The participants took an oral antibiotic for 7 days. The antibiotic changed their gut microbiome, gut diversity, and short-chain fatty acids (as expected). After a short break of 2 days, they were split into 2 groups. One group took a supplement of 2′-Fucosyllactose (2′-FL) (4 grams 3 times a day) while the other took a placebo for 8 weeks. The researchers noticed that the group taking the 2′-FL supplement showed greater microbial resilience compared to the placebo group. It lasted for 2 weeks, but the effect faded over the full 8 weeks. The authors called for more studies involving higher doses, longer timelines, and combinations of prebiotics.

Early 2012 study on 8 healthy men examined plasma glutamine levels after participants drank different drinks. The participants took one of 4 drinks randomly: free L-Glutamine, L-alanylglutamine (AlaGln), Hydrolyzed wheat protein, and plain water. The researchers tracked blood plasma over several hours. Those who took L-alanylglutamine showed a higher concentration of l-glutamine in the blood compared to those who took other drinks. Both L-glutamine and AlaGln group peaked quickly around 30 minutes, but AlaGln resulted in elevated levels for up to 4 hours while free-glutamine levels returned to baseline within 1 to 2 hours. Note that this is a very small study with just 8 men.

A 2026 review discusses glutamine supplementation and exercise with respect to sports nutrition. It mentions that the dipeptide Alanyl-glutamine is a stable combination of two amino acids, glutamine and alanine bound together. It may act as a protective tool specifically for the digestive tract. The authors state that the current data is sparse and individualized and targeted use of glutamine is justified.
