Metagenics MethylCare -120 Capsules | Supplement for Methylation Support
MethylCare by Metagenics is a dietary supplement formulated to support healthy methylation and homocysteine metabolism. This Methylation Supplement has important ingredients like Riboflavin, Vitamin B6, Folate, Vitamin B12, Zinc, Manganese, Molybdenum, N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine, and Betaine HCL to support methylation.
Methylation is an important biochemical process for the optimal functioning of the cardiovascular, detoxification, and neurological systems in our body. Poor methylation severely impacts the functioning of the body. To experience good energy levels, healthy sleep, good mood, and healthy detoxification, your body needs healthy methylation.
According to research studies, methylation relies on vitamins and minerals specifically. Their deficiency causes disturbances in SAM synthesis, a primary donor of methyl groups in DNA methylation. Increasing uptake of these nutrients may support healthy methylation. Dietary supplements like Metagenics MethylCare may be helpful in supporting healthy methylation by providing the essential nutrients our body needs for methylation.
Product Benefits
- Provides methylation-supporting nutrients
- Supports vascular system and cardiovascular function
- Healthy energy production
- Support homocysteine metabolism
- Metabolization of amino acids
Homocysteine is produced by the breakdown of methionine (amino acid). It is present normally in the blood but when its level increases, it irritates the blood vessels increases atherosclerosis, and compromises circulatory function. This supplement may support cardiovascular function by supporting homocysteine metabolism.

FAQ's
What vitamins are needed for methylation?
Vitamins, minerals, and other substances act as substrates and cofactors in methylation. Given below are some of the important methyl nutrients necessary for methylation
- Active vitamins like active folate, vitamin B12, B6, and B2 are required for methylation.
- Choline
- Methionine
- Betaine or trimethylglycine
- Magnesium
- Vitamin D
What is methyl care used for?
Methylcare is a supplement used to support healthy methylation, a biochemical process that involves the transfer of methyl groups from one molecule to the other. This supplement also contributes to supporting healthy homocysteine metabolism and maintaining healthy homocysteine levels which contributes to healthy cardiovascular function.
What are the symptoms of poor methylation?
Some of the symptoms of poor methylation are:
- Tiredness
- Unable to sleep
- Feeling depressed
- Abdominal discomfort or digestive issues
- Headache
- Anxiety
- Mood swings
- Allergy
- Low energy levels
What is homocysteine metabolism?
Homocysteine is formed when methionine is metabolized to cysteine. Homocysteine metabolism is explained in the steps given below:
- Methionine reacts with ATP and forms S-Adenosyl-L-methionine (SAM). this is the universal methyl donor. After donating the methyl group to acceptor molecules, S-Adenosyl homocysteine (SAH) is formed which undergoes deadenosylation and forms homocysteine.
- Remethylation pathway: The Homocysteine formed is remethylated back to Methionine utilizing the methyl group from 5-N-methyl tetrahydrofolate. This pathway requires folate, vitamin B12, and betaine.
- Transsulfuration pathway: This process requires vitamin B6. Homocysteine combines with serine to form cystathionine.
