Success story showing active women after a 30-day magnesium glycinate journey, highlighting improved energy, stress reduction, and overall wellness

Personal health journey with magnesium

Pure Encapsulations magnesium glycinate is taken by people for different reasons. Reviews from different sources clearly mention this.

In this article, we want to tell you about the success story of Magnesium Glycinate 30 days Experience. At Nutriessential, before prioritising personal experience, we prefer researching medical literature to ensure the proven reason behind the right results.

To bring out the scientific and the most valuable information, we researched PubMed and found a very recent study published in August 2025 in Nature and Science of Sleep Journal.

The truth we want to tell you from study Introduction

In modern society, sleep disturbance and insomnia symptoms are very prevalent. It disrupts your overall well-being. Women are affected more with such issues compared to men.

Persistent sleep disruption is associated with cognitive impairment, mood disturbance, mental health problems, and cardiovascular disease. (Can you now realise how sleep disturbance can become the cause of serious diseases later?)

Melatonin is a widely used dietary supplement for sleep regulation but its efficacy and safety remain in question.

There is growing interest in alternative nutritional interventions. One such intervention includes magnesium supplements

According to observational studies, there is an association between greater magnesium consumption and better sleep quality. The evidence remains mixed as some studies found magnesium improves sleep efficiency, time, or latency, while some have found no significant effects.

About the study

This 4-week (28-day) study aimed to provide real-world evidence and offer new insights on magnesium bisglycinate benefits for individuals reporting poor sleep.

A screening questionnaire was used to assess eligibility. The individuals included in the study had poor sleep for more than four weeks. All participants stopped taking any dietary supplements for two weeks before starting magnesium supplements.

The daily instructions given included:

  • take two capsules daily, 30–60 minutes before bedtime.

  • focus on the usual diet

  • Maintain healthy lifestyle habits

  • Be physically active.

The magnesium bisglycinate supplement used in this study had 125 mg of magnesium and 761.5 mg of glycine (per capsule). Since participants took 2 capsules daily, the total daily dose was 250 mg of magnesium and 1523 mg of glycine. The placebo capsules contained cellulose. The capsule shells were made of hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose.

Sleep diary completion was voluntary. A few participants, nearly 10 % provided complete entries. In the magnesium bisglycinate group, one patient reported dizziness and nausea, one reported joint pain.

Magnesium is postulated to be the main contributor to the benefits and glycine may provide complementary benefits. As an inhibitory neurotransmitter, glycine interacts with NMDA receptors and promotes relaxation and deeper sleep through mechanisms such as lowering core body temperature.

What we learned about this study:

  • Magnesium glycinate has properties that make it ideal for sleep and relaxation benefits.

  • The tissue-specific bioavailability of magnesium bisglycinate is related to its effectiveness. In simple terms, for a supplement to be effective, its bioavailability should be excellent.

  • The study highlights the applicability of magnesium bisglycinate to daily life.

  • Individuals with lower magnesium intake may benefit more from supplementation.

  • Biochemical markers of magnesium status should be included/recorded as they better reflect magnesium balance before and after starting supplements. These include serum magnesium or, preferably, 24-hour urinary magnesium excretion

  • Studies investigating neurotransmitter activity and hormone levels like cortisol could help clarify how magnesium influences sleep regulation.

  • This is the first study that evaluated the effects of magnesium bisglycinate on sleep quality.

  • Future studies should confirm the findings reported in the study.

Customer reviews from different sources suggest that the results were immediate and tangible. The sleep quality deepened significantly, eliminating mid-night wake-ups. Many experienced faster post-workout muscle recovery.

Though when our Nutriessential team researched different online platforms like Amazon and others where customer reviews are available, we did not find any review where customers shared a 30 day journey after starting magnesium glycinate supplement.

What can be done next? New idea for you!

It’s a valuable tool for tracking sleep, monitoring sleep habits, and documenting sleeping problems. You can differentiate how you were feeling before starting magnesium glycinate and now how you are feeling after taking it consistently, you can share the findings/your writing with the healthcare provider.

FAQ:

1. What is magnesium bisglycinate?

Magnesium bisglycinate is a a chelated compound that combines magnesium with glycine. The content of glycine in magnesium bisglycinate is lower and its co-presence produces synergistic effects with magnesium in supporting sleep physiology. Glycine has been studied for its sleep-promoting properties as it can interact with key neurotransmitter systems. Many studies have also reported glycine benefits like enhancing sleep quality and reducing daytime fatigue.

2. What is good quality sleep?

Good quality sleep means:

  • shorter sleep onset latency

  • longer sleep duration

  • reduced daytime sleepiness

3. Why do people choose magnesium glycinate?

According to the clinical trials, magnesium supplements enhance sleep efficiency and reduce insomnia severity, potentially through mechanisms such as increased melatonin production and reduced cortisol levels.

People choose magnesium for

  • nervous system support

  • calmness and focus improvement

  • Improved energy levels and muscle relaxation

  • improved sleep quality and stress management
