The functional value of keeping whey proteins in a bioactive state is well-studied. A 2025 review in Biomedicines journal says that whey proteins contain complex molecular fractions like immunoglobulins. It points out excessive heating can change the native structures and reduce digestibility while controlled processing may potentially release the bioactive peptides from the parent protein. 

Many protein supplements use high-heat processing. But Metagenics BioPure Protein specifically avoids that. The whey protein concentrate uses a selective transfer membrane process at controlled temperatures and pH. The process captures active proteins and peptides and also prevents the proteins from becoming inactive. When protein is in its stable and natural state, it may be better absorbed. 

It also means that the bioactive protein is delicate. You should not mix it with high heat. Some people tend to add protein powders to their hot coffee or blend them at high speed. You should not do that with BioPure Protein. As this supplement is designed specifically to include immunoglobulins, high heat may destroy them. A standard shaker bottle can work well for this supplement.
