Product Description

Fodzyme Home Kit is a digestive enzyme supplement containing enzymes that act on specific FODMAP carbohydrates. It’s a tasteless powder that can be mixed into food before eating, which supports FODMAP breakdown. It’s certified by Monash University for low FODMAP.

Reality Check by Nutriessential

FODMAPs are specific types of short-chain carbohydrates (sugars and fibers) found in foods like wheat, onions, garlic, milk, and certain fruits. Because they are hard for some people to digest, they can ferment in the gut, causing gas, bloating, stomach pain, and altered bowel habits. A low-FODMAP diet limits these foods.

People experiencing uncomfortable digestion struggle to identify which foods are actually triggering them. This is completely dependent on the health status of an individual because portion size may also impact whether a food is considered high or low FODMAP.

A 2026 review examined how different diets affect the quality of life (QOL) of adults experiencing inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). It found that 2 out of 4 studies showed improvements in QOL when people reduced specific types of hard-to-digest carbohydrates in a Low FODMAP diet.

The American College of Gastroenterology points out that low FODMAP diet is a short-term dietary approach, which can feel limiting, frustrating, complicated, and overwhelming. So, adherence to a low FODMAP diet becomes a separate challenge. People are looking for solutions that can help them reduce FODMAP content in their diet.

Apart from missing out on certain foods, ingredients like garlic and onion can be included in sauces, stocks, and other processed foods, which makes it harder to exclude them from a meal. Unless you read the label, you may miss that these items are hidden in your meal. In Reddit community discussions, people often say that it’s incredibly hard for them to avoid including staples like onion and garlic.

According to experts, certain enzymes target specific compounds in foods.

  • Fructan hydrolase: Targets fructans, including inulin and FOS. Commonly found in garlic, onion, wheat, rye and some other grains/vegetables.
  • Alpha-galactosidase: Targets GOS/galactans. Common food sources are beans, lentils, chickpeas, cashews and pistachios.
  • Lactase: Targets lactose. Commonly found in milk, yoghurt, soft cheese and ice cream

Evidence Check by Nutriessential

A 2026 single-arm, open-label cohort study is conducted. Among 118 participants who used the enzyme blend at least once per week for 4 weeks included in the final analysis, the study reported improvements in several other digestive symptoms. However, the study was open-label and had no placebo control. Participants had also purchased the product before joining the study.

A clinical trial NCT07591584 is designed as a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, within-individual crossover study to evaluate the regular use of FODMAP targeting enzyme blend in adults with self-reported bloating. It included 150 participants. The primary outcome measured is the PROMIS gastrointestinal gas and bloating score. Secondary outcomes measured are IBS symptom severity, abdominal pain, food-related quality of life, anxiety, and IBS subgroups. This study by People Science in Los Angeles, California, is still recruiting participants, and it’s estimated to be completed in October 2026.

How does the FODZYME Home Kit Fit into Your Daily Routine?

  • Flexibility of diet: If you’re looking at options to follow a low FODMAP diet without necessarily restricting everyday food choices, FODZYME home kit can be an option to explore.
  • Easy to use: The FODZYME supplement powder can be added directly to food. There’s no need to swallow a pill or mix powder in a drink and then wait for some time before taking a meal. It’s designed for use around meals where FODMAP-containing foods may be present. While the Home Kit provides 0.75 g per serving, it’s developed for standard serving for meals prepared at home, where you know what ingredients are present.
  • Depends on meals: According to the FODZYME brand, the serving size isn’t dependent on body weight or age. Rather, it depends on the size of the meal and how much FODMAP content is present. For large meals or depending on individual needs, double dose may be needed.

1. What are the ingredients in FODZYME?

FODZYME contains three active enzymes: fructan hydrolase (targeting fructans in garlic, onion, and wheat), alpha-galactosidase (for GOS in beans and legumes), and lactase (for lactose in dairy). The formulation is certified low-FODMAP by the Monash University.

2. How is FODZYME different from other digestive enzyme supplements?

Digestive enzyme supplements primarily contain protease, lipase, and amylase. They act on proteins, fats, and starches. FODZYME is specifically formulated to break down FODMAP and it’s sprinkled on the food before eating it. The enzymes target fructans, GOS, and lactose present in the food.
