When my internist suggested Niacitol for high cholestral, I hesitated because of the high dosage required to be effective. B vitamins usually cause wakefulness for me. But his recommendation was graduated doses over several weeks to build up tolerance to it. And it worked, causing no insomnia! I started 500 mg per day and now take 2000mg. Also I feel a bit more energetic without feeling stimulated. Haven't had my lipids rechecked yet.
